I wasn't sure where to post this I didn't see anywhere for animals..at least the four legged kind.. I was just curious about something. We got our cat last year when she was 5 weeks old. I had bought her Purina Kitten Chow and then those free coupons came out for the pouches and I stocked up on those! I also had a few of the little pouches of the Purina One after those ran out. Well I ran out of everything two days ago and I bought a big bag of Everpet I think from Dollar General. She won't touch it. I found another pouch of the Purina One in the back and gave her that and she scarfed it down.

Sorry for the ramble..my question is for you kitty owners...do they seem to be more picky with what they eat? My dog will eat anything so I thought that she would too. I was wrong.. I am thinking I will donate the rest of this 15lb bag, but I don't know what to buy her! I don't think I should keep feeding her kitten food since she is almost 2.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice! :)

There are certain foods that Phoebe prefers but I have found that if I give her a food she is not fond of she will eventually eat it. If she gets hungry enough she will eat. This will sound weird but I have a small plate next to her food dish to put her treats on, therefore anything that is on that plate she thinks is a special treat. I will take the food that she doesn't like and put it on the plate and she scarfs it down.

When I had cats in HS, they would be picky if we changed their brands, but if they got hungry enough they ate it.

Allison, that is a great idea!

Heather, I also bought my cats Everpet from DG after I ran out of the Purina and Ghostie hated it and refused to eat for 2 days......Skittles ate it but made it clear she didn't like it. Ghost finally gave in and ate his, and threw it up on my living room floor........I caved and they now eat Friskies canned every day LOL and let me tell ya'll....those cats are getting expensive!

Yeah I left it in her bowl too thinking she would eat if she got hungry. But for two days the bowl stayed pretty full. I saw her eat one or two pieces of it, but then I decided to see if she just wasn't hungry when I found that other pouch and she ate some of it right away. I am thinking she just doesn't like this kind. Thanks for all of the responses I really appreciate it! I think she is picky, because even with her treats she puts her nose in the air...I call her stuck up..

I don't like using canned food, I have hard time pulling the tops off and it hurts my hands, but well, these cats....yeah they kind of took over around here

It is recommended that a change in pet food take at least 2 weeks in order to prevent health issues. Please please be careful in changing a pets food.

Its really funny, at my house... all 8 ~from almost 1 year to almost 13 years old~ love Purina Healthful Life. Don't like Purina One or Indoor Cat Chow. Same company makes all 3 brands.

Oh I didn't realize that you had to give 2 weeks. I didn't realize it could hurt them. I always give Fatboy whatever I get on sale. :( I figured that is how we eat and that is how they will eat too. Maybe I should rethink my strategy!

Unless my dog stops with the cat food I may have some extra. :)

 Well the dog's food is on the floor all the time and she doesn't touch that either. I thought it was bad for them? IDK everything is bad for everyone nowadays it seems! I will just try to get a different kind tomorrow I guess. :) It sure won't be a 15lb bag either!
