What is the greatest part about couponing?

So obviously we all coupon because we love getting stuff cheap or free stuff (aren't those pretty words?!)... that's a given...

Yet what else motivates you week after week to buy the paper, cut the coupons??

Is it just the thrill? Is it something to do?? Why do you do it??

Every now and then I will not coupon much for a few weeks, I see how much I spend week after week and get so annoyed with myself because I know what I can be saving...so I guess I coupon because it kills me to spend money that I shouldn't be spending.

To me it is almost a sport at times and you know I love sports esp ones where I dont have to sweat!!! But when I come home with bags of stuff at a fraction of the cost...its a high....not too many people understand that but you guys. It pains me to see people pay full price for items I get for free or practically free....I wanna grab them and shake them and say"" Loook.....I got this for free and you can too"

It's like a sport for me to. Tracking down as many deals as possible! I agree there is a high to seeing all you can get. I also love being able to help out. Most of my friends and family are in the same financial spot as us..with only one or even none working so being able to bring them food, hygiene products, medicine etc is wonderful!

It has definitely turned into a sport or hobby for me! And I agree with KV about the high I get after I pay and put it all in the car....it's like..OMGoodnes..look at all this stuff I got for next to nothing (sometimes, not all the time)!! I love being able to give, give and give. I told my bf tonight and another friend of ours to not bring any candy to the Cruise In next Saturday, because I had 15 bags of stuff we can give away. After picking their jaws up, they asked me WHY? I said because I got such good deals the past few weeks that I wanted to be able to give it away to kids!!

And my dh is always amazed at what I bring home for so little!!!

The best thing I have found in couponing is the people you meet, there are idiots but after people get to know me they get over that. Most people you find that use coupons are willing to share, not only the loot they get but they way they get it also. Even though coupons are simple some people just don't understand how it works. It is the people we find at forums like HCWT and others that get people through it to the point they understand and start to realize the savings you can get as a community. I tell people all of the time, don't limit your self to one blog or forum, every one out there has a tip or a deal to share, find, listen and share. we are all a tad bit richer because of it. When I started blogging I thought I may make money, then I woke up and realized that the real payment is in helping others and with that in time you may make a couple of dollars. People that have been blogging and making money tell me I need a partner to make it work. Well I have made it work, I have a handful of people that have learned how to use coupons from me and it has helped them and their families and they are now passing it on to others. I have several students that only stop by the site to say high, they listened to me and found a blogger that shops the way they do and thus helps them a bit more than I could. But they come back and say hi and share a deal now and then.

I must agree with the "high". I remember my first coupon trip. It was a spur of the moment trip with 2 friends (one was a couponer), we went to Rite Aid and I got 6 jars planters nuts, 4 boxes of cereal and 6 2 liters of 7up and I paid less than a dollar. I remember putting all of our bags in the car and I felt like I just robbed the place and needed to get out before the cops came!

I can remember my mom taking me to a store called Grand Union in Flemington, NJ, I was maybe 7 years old..they were doing triple coupons and she had me push a cart because her's got too full......so I guess I have been couponing all my life :lol:

I enjoy couponing and making sure I save the most I can simply because I believe that God expects me to make the most of the money He allows us to have. Does that mean that when I'm too burned out to think it through or even to take the coupons to the store, I'm going against what God wants in my life? Absolutely NOT. You see I serve a loving God that is the giver of good to me and the comforter when there is sorrow or hard times. He allows me to find good coupons that match up with store sales and save tidy amounts of money.
