As some of you may be aware, my DD was diagnosed with breast cancer last May. She has had 6 chemo treatments, double mastectomy, and reconstruction. Through it she has continued to work as a teacher for special ed students. After her 6th treatment, she had a bad case of pneumonia. She has been a real encouragement (read "Tidings of Comfort & Joy" on my blog). When she was about mid-way her treatments I began having issues and had an excisional biopsy of an apricot size mass. This was diagnosed as benign. At the same time my issues were being dealt with, my DH had a mass develop and it was immediately removed and diagnosed as a rare, aggressive form of lymphoma. So 2 in our family are dealing with cancer.

But through it all we have found a place to rest. That is in Jesus. So I wish to share this hymn with you that you, too, might find peace and rest.

It helped to keep Christmas very quiet this year. I bought no gifts except the 4 little granddaughters (ages 20 mos to 6.5 yrs). I did no baking, cooking, except regular meals. I went nowhere. Few came by which helped because of DH's low blood counts. It could have been depressing, but I count it as relaxing. :)

Sometimes simple is better Vera- just depends on your situation. I think you needed simple this year, and just enjoy the reason for the season, and to enjoy family!!

I was expecting my Christmas to be rough this year- just over a year since dad passed- we were still in shock last year- but I was determined to make it a fun Christmas for our kids! I did it all for them and surprisingly, we all had a great christmas- but that is what we needed this year!

Vera, just remember that if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it!! God's blessings to you!
