Question one- When was your most memorable New Years Eve, and why??
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 07:35 PM
Oh Lordy...1983.........went to jail.......most memorable ever!
wendy1214
12-31-2010, 07:40 PM
ok- we need the story to THAT one!!!
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 07:44 PM
I was 18, was dating my now hubby....I was wasted, he wasn't, he was driving.......we were actually on our way home and we hit an icy spot and swerved and got pulled over........I had a huge glass of bourbon in my hand....I guess I was so drunk that when we left the party we were at I took it with me...well hubby was over 21 and we went to jail, me for minor in possession and he for contributing to a minor...they let us out after a few hours, but it's definitely the one New Year's I will always remember.
wendy1214
12-31-2010, 07:49 PM
wow- you were lucky they let you out! So, Kelly does have a naughty streak in her!!!!
I guess my story was New years at a friends house when Dh and I were just married. We were drinking (of course) and I had a bit too much. Did I also mention we had spaghetti for dinner. On our way home I told hubby to pull over. he did, opened the door for me and well, I got sick.....only I didn't lean out the door! It was nasty. He got me home and stuck me on the shower while he went to clean out the car. I must have been in the shower forever- every time I peaked out, he was there, giving me the EYES. I was afraid to some out! lol (we now refer to them as the shower eyes! )

KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 07:53 PM
I had really, really long hair and we were in his driveway sitting in the car....well I was in the car because I don't think I could get out or hubby wouldn't let me out  Anyway, hubby told his baby brother..."go open the door for her she don't look too good" and when he opened it I started to get sick and he leaned in to pull my hair back (such a good BIL) and I puked right down his boots :rolling:

12-31-2010, 08:02 PM
Kelly- I once went out with friends drinking- I was driving( i know, tsk tsk tsk :tsk:), I almost missed the off ramp, quickly turned off, hit the stones on the edge of the road and spun the car and went down in the ditch. My friend in the back fell off the seat, and all you heard from her was "Booom" I drove the car back up onto the road and we were on our way- surprised no one (or my car) didn't get hurt!
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 08:08 PM

What was the strangest Job you ever had?
In 1972 I was hired as a costumed host at 6 Flags STL. I was HR Puffinstuff, Cling & Clang and Rocky Racoon. I meet my wife while working, I was resting in a pile of stuffed Animals in custome in one of the toy stores. When this very good looking young lady approched I took notice (who would have guessed) She reached down to touch me and I moved, She just about wet her self. Two years later when we formally meet we were talking and discovered that she was the young lady I scared that day.
wendy1214
12-31-2010, 08:51 PM
ok- 10 pm, 2 hours to go~~
Silly question- after reading some of the responses already- have you ever gotten so drunk you don't remember what happened the night before, or woken up somewhere you shouldn't have??
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 09:01 PM
Neal that is a great story.....I also met my husband a year or so before I "formally" met him...a very long story for another day
Strangest job...hmmmm...I don't know about strange but the worst i ever had was when I was 18 pulling eviseras out of chickens at the processing plant
Wendy...one time, my husband and I went to a bar called the Crazy Horse, I was around 23 or 24...he said I got so drunk I pulled my clothes off while we were driving down the interstate and threw them out the window, he also said I saw a coyote turn into a pig and then a duck in front of our car.....I don't remember ever leaving the bar, his cousin Johnny and I had gone shot for shot for hours and I was apparently pretty wasted.
wendy1214
12-31-2010, 09:05 PM
wow! Most all my stories are college ones- went to visit a friend at her college and we were drinking tequila-my first time ever. I woke up in the guys room on the floor with my friend no where in site! Nothing had happened, but I had no idea where I was at first
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 09:17 PM
:rolling: Wendy, last year my youngest went to a concert in Little Rock and got drunk and passed out in the ladies room, next morning he was "famous" he was being talked about all over the radio stations...I could have killed him! H esaid whne he woke up a few girls were laughing at him.
KarrenOliver
12-31-2010, 09:19 PM
Wow...lot's of catching up to do!
wendy1214
12-31-2010, 09:20 PM
:rolling: too funny!
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 09:22 PM
he is very lucky he didn't go to jail that night, the police checked his id and asked if that was him and he said "no, that's my brother, I'm only 20" They said the only reason they didn't arrest him was because he told them the truth.
wendy1214
12-31-2010, 09:23 PM
wow- with a "fake" id and all! He could have gotten charged with all kinds of things!

12-31-2010, 09:24 PM
Not a better job in the world, there was no chashing the girls, they came to you and all they wanted was a hug, a picture and they were gone. How sweet
Allison
12-31-2010, 09:27 PM
Oh lord! The stories I could tell...I was a little out of control back in the day. I am completely amazed that I am alive today. I remember one night I got so drunk at the bar. I couldn't find my friend anywhere and she was my ride home. A guy offered to let me crash at his place. Before we left I wrote a note and put it on my friend's car (I know I know, she was obviously still there if her car was). I woke up in the morning with absolutely no clue where I was. I was on a couch and there was a guy on the floor. Next thing you know some lady (his mom) came into the room and asked if I wanted coffee. She asked who I was and the guy said "some drunk chick I found along the road". I was so embarrassed!
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 09:31 PM
:rolling: Allison that is great!
wendy1214
12-31-2010, 09:31 PM
Allison- one time I was won in a game of darts! I begged the bartender I knew to take me home instead of the "guy who won" Well, I also knew this bartender used to be known for the number of women......... anyway, we are walking home and it suddenly hits me, what am I doing! I wound up getting out of anything, but wow, what you do when you aren't sober!!
KarrenOliver
12-31-2010, 09:32 PM
Neal....I would say that was one of the better jobs to have...my first job was working in a donut shop!
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 09:34 PM
I a loving this thread.....wow, I think I prefer being sober on New Year's LMAO...I actually don't drink at all anymore
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 09:35 PM
What's our next question????
stlcouponwizard
12-31-2010, 09:37 PM

wendy1214
12-31-2010, 09:37 PM
OK- 10:30 new question....
How did you and your spouse/significant other meet??
Hubby and I actually met freshman year in college, but were best friends! I wanted to out with him, but was dating someone, and same with him! Anyway, one time a bunch of us were down in the lobby, and I remember thinking one time "I could see myself married to him someday!"
The following year he transferred out. I saw his old girlfriend and asjed about him, she glared at me- found out she thought their was something going on between the 2 of us!
# years later he gets a job interview near the college and looked me up! We talked and exchanged addresses- this was april/may. We wrote a few time, and when I went home for the summer I lost his address. The next fall (my last semester) he came back to find me. He actually found his old girlfriend and asked to help find me!!!
4 months later we were engaged!!
I call it our fairy tale story
KellyMarie
12-31-2010, 09:40 PM
awwww...that's a great story Wendy!!! It will take me a bit to write mine out :)
wendy1214
12-31-2010, 09:43 PM
that is why the question was late!
** or add on to the story- at one part I found out marty's brother was coming to visit. I thought to myself "oh if marty is this great, maybe I have a shot at his brother" I stopped over to his dorm room when his brother was there, stayed for 5 minutes and made up an excuse to leave. I still have that opinion about his brother! lol

I met my current dh (most of you know that I was married for 24 years to the jerk of the century who had an affair and just couldn't understand why it should matter?) through friends at a car show. My ex and I had a 34 Ford and we went to a lot of car shows and cruises. I had hardly spoken to my dh, because I wasn't interested, I was married, end of subject. Then about a year or maybe 2 later, I found myself divorced. I remembered him and that he had helped take care of his dad while he had cancer and that was why he wasn't around much. I heard that his dad had passed (through car friends) and went to the funeral to pay my respects. I then called him a few days later to ask how he was doing and he asked me and I told him that I was now divorced and we talked for 2 hours on the phone. My divorce was not final yet, and my mom was very particular about stuff like that even though I was a grown up. She encouraged me to not be seen in public with him til after everything was final and then we started dating openly and got married a year later. Oh and New Years Eve of the year we hooked up, my ex called me on my cell phone and told me he would see me dead before he gave me one dime in our divorce. Had to go to the court house and get a restraining order after that. Everything finally worked out and I am one happy woman!!

Here is a New Year's tradition that my daughter's in-laws have done for most all of the years she has been married. They jump into the new year. The older parents, parent's siblings, children, cousins (old enough to be there) have a party (non-alcoholic) and when the clock strikes midnight, they are all standing on chairs and tables holding hands and the jump together into the new year. Now I don't know how it all got started since they were doing this when my daughter married into the family, but I just hope the house has a good foundation.

Happy New Year!!!!!!
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?
Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
We twa hae run about the braes
And pou'd the gowans fine.
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld lang syne.
We twa hae sported i' the burn,
From morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne.
And ther's a hand, my trusty friend,
And gie's a hand o' thine;
We'll tak' a right good willie-waught,,
For auld lang syne.
