Thanks guys- turned out to be a concussion and we just got home. She had pain in her jaw and neck so they took some xrays as well, thankfully all ok!
She doesn't really even remember what happened. her coaches did nothing for her, except let her sit and gave her some ice. This happened at half time, and they didn't have her call be till 4th quarter of the basketball game. I can't believe there wasn't any medical staff on hand at the game, and if there was I am not happy they didn't send her over to get looked at! They ahve a competition this Sat that she was advised not to go to by the Dr tonight. SHe is more worried about her coaches- apparently they said (before the game) if any of you can't make it, I will sneak into your house and kill you! Not sure, but that sounds like a threat I should report to the school just to be spiteful! I mean come on! Sure you want them all there, but you wonder why so many girls have quit this year???
Anyway, enough ranting about the coaches- just glad Andi is ok. WIll let you all know how she is tomorrow!
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers

Glad everything has turned out good. Cheering is very physical, most people don't even realize that! She's gonna feel it in the morning! Hopefully, she won't, but.... & grrrrr to those coaches! What's wrong with people!

Her coaches sound a bit too competitive, when girls start quitting that's not a good sign...they work too hard to get on the team and if they start dropping like flies something is not right.
Sorry Wendy and I hope Andi is ok

Morning all. She woke up on her own, so glad about. She has a bad headache still, and will for a while! She says it is hard to lift her head, and her back hurts- all things the Dr said would happen. At least she has an appetite and seems ok otherwise. She is home from school today, and I will be calling her off from work tonight. We will see what tomorrow brings as far as school..
I will also being calling the coaches to let them know what is going on and tell them she won't be at the competition.... Andi refuses to, so i will take pleasure in that call!
Thanks again for all your thoughts/prayers/concerns!

Whoa! Glad your daughter is okay and it wasn't worse. Her coaches are the norm it seems. Report them all--she should have been checked out RIGHT after it happened!

Wendy I'm just reading all of this, and I'm so sorry that she has to go through with all the pain she's in. I for one would be calling the school board and putting in an official report as to how these girls are being treated (BECAUSE the COACHES want to WIN) I would also mention the little (Teasing or Not) threat of breaking into homes and killing! It doesn't matter whether they win or not, the way I see it is that they are there for the pleasure of the sport, yes winning is a BIG PLUS, but for the coaches to put these girls in harms way, and NOT see to it that they have medical attention ASAP when needed (no matter how small the injury) is wrong in so many ways. It could have been much worse than it was (like Broken Bones), Thank God it wasn't though.
I'm so glad that she is doing much better this morning, and I'm sure that she'll continue to get better, it may take up to a week or 2 for her to get back to 100%, Concussions are not fun (I know this very well).
I will pray that she recovers from this quickly..........

OMG! I am reading this for the first time too and ditto to what Linda said....REPORT the STUPID ASS coaches! There is no reason for them to say that. Period!
I'm glad your daughter is feeling better and hope that the pain goes away soon.

Me too...just read this.I would report all of it to the school board.I'm glad shes OK.I've had a concussion also...not fun! It took me little over a week to feel better.
Glad she is feeling a better and hope your call results in positive changes. The coaches really shouldn't be saying that.

Wendy, I can truly feel your anger, pain, and frustration. I had 3 girls who were cheerleaders in high school. They were in small Christian schools, but the competition is still there and the stress and pressure, too. A concussion is something she may have symptoms and problems with for several months. Young folks rebound better most of the time than olders folks do to injury. However, she may have fuzzy thinking for awhile. That might be a problem academically for her. So watch (without letting on to her).
Keep in mind that these are young, giggling, "prom-queen wannabe" young girls on the cheering squad. So they are competitive for their position on the squad, before the whole school, in the eyes of their coach, and in the eyes of the young boys they want so dearly to impress. As to the injury and how it happened, they don't pay as much attention to a cheerleader's getting bumped, slammed, dumped, dropped, etc. as they do to a football or basketball player. But cheerleaders can sustain terrible injuries.
I truly hope she coddles herself and takes care of her concussion. It is not a simple injury to trifle with.

She has been on the couch all day long, slept for a while. She is feeling much better now. And much more alert than last night! As long as the dizziness is gone, I think she may go to school tomorrow- the poor thing in her "delirium" last night kept telling me she couldn't miss school today cause she had a physics quiz! God love her!.
She definitely seems better now, so time will tell. We will make an appt next week with the fmaily Dr to get her checked out and get the go ahead to get back to cheering. At least me miss the comp this weekend
