View Full Version : Phoebe and her new friend

It's no secret that my cat, Phoebe, enjoys hunting down the mice and having a little fun with them. A couple days ago she caught one and was batting it around. It got away from her. The next day she found it again (well, I found it a screamed for her to come get it!), she played with it more. I could tell the poor mouse was injured, it was dragging itself around trying to get away. Even in its broken state, the mouse got away. For some reason Phoebe was unwilling to put him out of his misery and I was unable to catch the little bugger. Yesterday, Phoebe's friend was out of hiding. The poor guy was laying on a blanket just waiting for the sweet release of death. I let him and Phoebe have some bonding time before I took the rodent outside. Poor little thing. My cats have fun with mice too. One time, our cat brought a bunny in the house- it was injured too, couldn't move it's back legs. You should have seen us trying to chase the cat away from it and trying to get it outside

Allison, I wonder if she decided it wasn't worth killing because it just wasn't "fun" anymore? Like the sport had been taken out of it.

My cat would probably do the same thing! She will play with anything! Luckily so far I haven't had any in here this winter. Maybe she is doing her job..hmmm... :)
