Enough courage to make it through

Rate this Entry
Sometime I think to myself, the age old question, "Why me? Why did it happen to me?"

Nothing in my life has ever just been "easy." I worked for most everything I own, I lost my Father at a very early age, I've watched my sisters "cut" themselves to deal with pain, I've been in the same room as a child while someone did drugs...etc, etc.

Then I think about how pathetic I sound. How ungrateful I sound.

Yes, I have experienced a lot of heartbreak in my life. More so than any 21 year old will experience. Yet:

Am I alive?
Am I healthy?
Am I breathing?
Do I have enough for my basic needs?

I can answer yes to all four of those questions... So the better question is: why am I not thankful? Everyone goes through hardships, trials, tribulations. Everyone's road is rocky. Everyone hit's speed bumps. But what counts is how we deal with it and I wanna deal with mine with a smile on my face, with enough courage to continue and enough faith to make it through.

“Give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs" - Proverbs 30:8b-9, NLT

I don't think its that you're not grateful. The bad always overshadows the good. Just remember that you are never given more than you can handle and you come out the other side stronger and brighter. The trials and tribulations made you who you are today.

I don't think you are ungrateful either, and good news, as Arcosta wrote the bad overshadows the guilt~as you get older if you allow it, the good eventually overshadows the bad

I don't think we can find a reason for why things happen in life. God gives everyone free will. It's not something he ever takes away. But we, as you have experienced, are affected by the choices of others.

I see that you have discovered the strength to cope through your trusting relationship with God and your familiarity with His Word. Choosing to walk with God, you will make it through life on the best path. I'm very proud of you. So nice to meet you.

Last night we watched Anderson Cooper on CNN and listened to his commentary as we awaited the rescue of the first of 33 miners in Chile to be rescued from the underground mine where they had been trapped for over 2 months. In his commentary, Anderson more than once referred to the letter that nineteen year old Jimmy Sanchez had sent up from the mine in which he said, "There are actually 34 of us because God has never left us down here."

As I was reflecting on this this morning, I thought of you. All through the difficult things that you have encountered in your life God has never left you. In his love for you, he has been with you through all that you have suffered in life. Like the miners, he is with each of us in all that is hard for us to bear. Though he doesn't cause the hard things in life, He is with us and brings good things from these difficulties - in the miners lives too.

Also early on the miners had set up a place to pray each day. And mini-Bibles and a crucifix had been sent down to them. Like you they gained strength from their prayer relationship with God and with his Word in the Bible.

Because of you, I think I would like to start a blog. And I'd like to start with this miner piece. I just don't know how to start.
