This is just my inner nerd, but this one really bothers me (a lot of others bother me because they aren't true, but this one is just a pet peeve). A ton is a measurement of weight in regards to the Earth's gravity. The Earth can gain mass, but not weight. Therefore, this one just doesn't make any sense at all.
At any rate, we do gain a lot of mass from cosmic dust, but it's so negligible it's unreal. It's estimated that cosmic dust can account for about 1/100,000 of the total weight of the Earth. Sure, that's more than you or me, but it's not much.Official HCWT Thread Hijacker
