Understanding youtube

So, I'm working on this whole "make money from youtube" thing. And, while I have some good ideas on how to make videos people would be interested in, what I'm stumbling on is why certain videos get views and others don't. I've been posting some video game tidbits (not my goal, but something I thought I'd do to practice this) and I'm really stumped at the way some videos hit and others miss. Here is an example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45c6sbglwA8 has almost 7k views.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj7px9fASAQ with almost the same content, tags, etc has less than 200.



So, my question is this: Do any of you do youtube, and/or do any of you understand the rating/display formula for youtube videos?

John, the only time I youtube is if someone has sent me a link there or such. I do know that they are trying to upload my grandsons football highlights to youtube to forward to some colleges. That's about the extent of my knowledge......not much......

My husband does with his gameplay from all the Call of Duty or Modern Warfare games and Minecraft. I will have to ask him about it. He doesn't have much either though so probably won't be much help. He got the offer to add the adsense to his account, but he doesn't know much about it either. He wanted to just add to mine, but of course I don't have my own so can't do that.

Well, I haven't figured out the magic code, yet, but I did figure out it can be done:

$0.97Yesterday
$4.79This month so far

For playing a video game that I would have played anyway and then just taking the time to post a video of it (which I enjoyed doing), I can't really complain. It keeps this up and I'll buy a new microphone.

I ended with $3.35 yesterday. For having two videos over 1k and one over 10k I'm not going to complain at all. Especially since this isn't the direction I intend to go with it (I'm doing HowTo's after I get my camera next month, this is just a test run).
