Thanks for starting this thread Kelly, I have composed my Thanksgiving post and was not sure on were to post it. You provided me the location, Thanks
Well here we are again, another year almost over and I as I’m sure a lot of you all are pondering what do we have to be thankful for this year. It has been a very hard year for oh so many of us. If we made it through the wild weather we were crippled by the bad economy. People fighting the bill collectors or the crooked banks after our house. Our falling incomes have made it hard to survive week to week. The cost of fuel is up making hard to get to work if we are lucky enough to have a job. Our president is funding companies doomed to fail with our money and the idiots on capitol hill still have a problem figuring out how to stop spending our money like a kid in a candy store. The election season is like the Christmas sale season it starts earlier and earlier each year. This coming year we all will need to make a tough decision on who to send back to Washington DC. The one there are as dumb as a box of rocks and the ones trying to get there……………. can you believe them?
Sounds bad doesn’t it? Well it is not good but stop and think a moment about what you have that no one can take from you.
1, Your mother & father with us or not, unconditional love. People that some of us really did not understand until we started to live in their shoes, raising kids, paying bills, tucking our kids in bed. We now know why they did what they did, the stuff that made us cry, laugh and wish they would just go away. I’m thankful for the guidance they provided me through my childhood.
2, Children, they are gods gift to us, we see ourselves in them and work our butts off to ensure that their lives will be just a bit better than ours. They piss us of with the stupid thing they do but we still love and cherish them. I’m thankful for five of the most beautiful & wonderful creatures on the face of this earth.
3, your Spouse, partner or whatever the hell you call her or him. A person that can just look at you and change your mood, put a smile on your face and at the same time piss you off so much steam comes out your ears. But what would you do with out them other than be lonely. I’m thankful for a partner that may never fully understand me but accepts me for who I am.
4, Friends, the people that we grew up with or just meet or even never met face to face. A person that will take the time to listen to you. People that we laughed, cried, partied with and may have lost contact with over time. They help you get over or forget the other problems in your life and they always puts a smile on your face when you part.. I’m thankful for knowing oh so many of these type of people face to face or keyboard to keyboard.
5, Freedom, Something that we all forget about all to often. In a lot of places on this earth you would be punished or killed for expressing you beliefs but not here. We may have a bunch of dumb bells running this country but our freedom allows us to boot them out, something that would not happen in a lot of countries in this world. I’m thankful and will never forget those and the families of those that have fought to preserve our freedom.
6, Your Smile, A simple way to show your mother, father, children, friends and defenders that you do care for them. Something that you control and can give to anybody freely and without cost. So tomorrow when you sit down at your thanksgiving dinner look around the table at those that mean so much to you and give them the one thing we all have regardless of the economy, the weather or any thing else, A smile. It will carry with it your love and will never be forgotten. Thank your god for those around you. I do every day.
Have a great Thanksgiving
